St. Petersburg, FL (PRWEB) October 13, 2004 -- Jabil Global Services, Inc.
(JGS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Jabil Circuit, Inc. (NYSE: JBL), today
announced that it has significantly expanded its capabilities of repairing LCD
panels commonly used in the consumer electronic and computer
JGS is broadening its service capabilities to include LCD Polarizer Screen Repair, TAB and COG chip replacement and the repair of many other electronic failures associated with LCD panels. Repair capabilities will initially focus on panel sizes ranging from 1" to 65" and will be performed in a clean room environment.
With recent announcements from major Taiwanese makers expecting their LCD TV shipments to hit new highs in the fourth quarter, display industry analysts are predicting the global demand for LCD panels to surpass traditional technologies such as the CRT. Many sources predict that LCD TVs will experience double digit growth from FY06 – 08. Recent investments in technology by panel manufacturers will lead to larger substrates, increasing availability and reducing cost.
"Jabil Global Services recognized the fast growing use of LCD panels in the consumer and professional markets in applications such as Computer Displays, LCD Televisions, Consumer Products and Public Advertising," said Dan DeBello, Sr. Director of Business Development for JGS. "We have proactively responded to the emerging needs of our customers and the panel suppliers."
"JGS has always been in the business of providing our customers support of emerging technologies. This expansion of LCD repair will add a significant competitive edge that differentiates JGS's service offering and should both strengthen and broaden our OEM relationships," said Mike Thorn, Vice President of Business Development for JGS. "Going forward, we expect similar technical additions to the JGS service offering along with acquisitions and partnerships that will create lasting competitive differentiators in the rapidly expanding after-sale support industry."
