This historic legislation was proposed by Congressperson Dennis Kucinich and is sponsored in the House of Representatives by 53 other Congresspeople nationwide. The primary function of a United States Department of Peace will be to research, articulate, and facilitate nonviolent solutions to domestic and international conflict. The Department would formulate nonmilitary peaceful conflict resolutions, prevent violence, and promote justice and democratic principles to extend and expand human rights. Go to www.propeace.net/dopbillsummary to learn more about this legislation and how you can help us to create a safer world.

Jimmy Tingle (www.jimmytingle.com) is regarded as one of the top social commentators and humorists in the country. Tingle's selected credits: He completed two seasons with "60 Minutes II" on CBS as the humorist / commentator in the Andy Rooney spot, and was the American correspondent for Sir David Frost's show for PBS and the BBC, "The Strategic Humor Initiative." This July, syndicated columnist Mark Shields, of cnn.com and The Jim Lehrer News Hour, described Tingle as "The Will Rogers of the 21st century." The New York Times described Tingle as "more than comic wit... so cheerfully intelligent he makes his audience optimistic in the face of appalling reality;" The Boston Globe has described him as "Hilarious;" and The Boston Herald referred to his one-man show "Uncommon Sense" as "Uncommonly good."

Tingle appeared as a television talk show host in Chris Rock's film, Head Of State.
