The safe AR is a SMART AR. VRI of Houston Texas has developed an AR 15 receiver to make Display, Training, Demonstrator, Stage Prop, and Practice AR 15’s safer. The SMART AR meets the credo of all gun owners: “Safety First and Always.”
(PRWEB) May 22, 2005 -- The receiver has the professional weight, look and
feel of the real thing. The SMART AR receiver cannot be made into an active
firearm. This allows a Non-Firing AR to be shown and handled in maximum safety.
SGM Carter Steven HQ, USAREUR & 7AOCHAP says: "My security mission makes it critical to conduct safe training in local areas. These lowers will allow just that. They will also allow you to use standard upper receivers and stocks for display on the nonfiring lower. VRI has done an outstanding job. The finish and workmanship is excellent. Thought you may be interested."
Used in military raining, gun show and display demonstrators, by military drill teams, on stage, in movies and theater productions, and for police training.
Forged from Aircraft Aluminum Alloy type 7075TG and Heat Treated; Ceramic Matrix impingement treatment and Black Anodized. Front and Rear Takedown holes are drilled to accept Upper Receiver with VRI included “unique” takedown pins. Standard AR pins will not function. Pistol Grip is to finished to spec and tapped; Buffer Tube tapped; Trigger Guard holes are complete; Magazine Well is Broached to Specification – the unit will accept Magazine Catch and Release Mechanism; Bolt Catch Disabled; Fire Control Well will not accept firing parts and is disabled by specific machining operations to prevent attempts to introduce operating firing parts; Fire Control Well is machined to accept only the VRI Demonstrator Trigger Block; Demonstrator Trigger Block is matched to receiver; held in place with “one way” steel spring pins and permanent metal adhesive.
