David Aquilina, Strategic Storyteller, Wins Crystal Clarion Award

Association for Women in Communications (AWC) Honors Minneapolis-based Freelance Consultant with Award for Excellence in Feature Story Writing

MINNEAPOLIS, MN (PRWEB) May 23, 2005 -- The Association for Women in Communications (AWC) has honored David Aquilina, strategic storyteller, with a Crystal Clarion Award for excellence in feature writing. Aquilina’s winning entry is a feature article he wrote for HealthPartners, the Minneapolis-based family of non-profit, consumer-governed health care organizations. The article, “Financially Rewarding Physicians for Quality: HealthPartners’ Model,” was published as the cover story in the May 2004 issue of Group Practice Journal. It describes HealthPartners’ innovation in establishing financial incentives and rewards for physicians who achieve measurable improvements in the quality of patient care.

The Crystal Clarion Awards competition recognizes outstanding work from all communications fields. The competition is open to women and men, individuals and organizations. Communications professionals from AWC chapters in Austin, Texas and Milwaukee, Wisc. judged this year’s Twin Cities’ entries. The judges praised Aquilina’s entry for “the detailed analysis of goals and objectives and the logical writing supported by facts and references.”

The Clarion is Aquilina’s second major award this year. In January 2005, he won an International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) Bronze Quill Award for superior achievement in business communications. For the second consecutive year, Aquilina was the only independent communications professional in Minnesota whose work was honored for excellence by IABC.
